About Football Memory

A free daily football quiz for fans who remember the big nights, from European finals to the great moments of the Middle East and North Africa.

What Football Memory is

Football Memory is a free trivia game about real football: World Cup finals, Champions League comebacks, title races and the nights when Middle Eastern and North African teams made history. It runs in your browser, on a phone or a computer, with no account needed.

New quizzes open every day at 00:00 UTC. Your scores go on daily and weekly leaderboards, worldwide, for your region or among friends, and rank points take you from Bronze to Legend.

Ways to play

Five ways to play, plus practice and Stories, our longer reads on football history:

  • Daily football quiz: pick a pack, such as the World Cup, La Liga or AFCON, and answer five questions, 25 seconds each; your first try at each pack each day is ranked.
  • Guess the goal: watch an animated replay of a real goal, rebuilt from match data, and name the match as clues appear.
  • Before or After: one minute against the clock. Say whether each famous moment happened before or after the one on the timeline.
  • Memory lane: just for fun. Pick a game style and play five questions without touching your ranking.
  • Friends rooms: a private room for 2 to 8 players, same questions, same clock. Friends join with a code or a link, no account needed.

How the questions are made

Every quiz question is about a real match or moment and cites its sources, mostly Wikipedia's match and season articles plus UEFA, FIFA, club websites and open football data; you can open them after every round. The writing rules allow only finished, well-documented events, wrong options that are certainly wrong, and no question that gives its own answer away.

Before publication, automated checks confirm that a question has exactly one right answer, that the answer doesn't appear in the question or its picture, and that every source it cites is in our register. A published question is never changed in place: if a fact proves wrong, it is retired and replaced by a corrected version.

The goal replays are drawn from Wyscout's public match-event data (CC BY 4.0), credited after each one. If something still looks wrong, tap “Report a problem” after the question: it comes straight to us.

Fair play

The server keeps the time and the score, and there is no betting, no prize money and no way to buy points. While a question is open its text can't be copied, and leaving the game for another tab, app or assistant is timed: in ranked games it costs time or the question, and in the daily quiz it can bring a yellow card. Each day's quiz also comes in several versions, so passing answers around doesn't help.

Free to play, paid for by ads

Football Memory is free, with nothing to buy. Ads from Google pay for it: on some pages and as a short break between games, never while a question is open. Your first daily quiz and first Guess the goal each day start without a break.

In English and Arabic

The whole game works in English and Arabic: every question, explanation and Before or After moment has an Arabic version, with one glossary for the names of teams, players and competitions.
